Gordon Cunningham

Managing Director

Managing Director, Gordon has 35 years of experience in the construction industry. Having started his career in 1988 as a Trainee Quantity Surveyor with Doig & Smith until 1995 when he joined a well-known Scottish Fit Out contractor, qualifying as a Chartered Quantity Surveyor in 1997.

Gordon joined Paisley-based main contractor, Clark Contracts in 1999 as General Manager, before progressing to Deputy Managing Director in 2001 and then becoming Managing Director in 2003.

Gordon led the Management Buyout of Clark Contracts in 2013 and in his role as Managing Director has grown the business from a turnover of £20 million in 2003 to £100 million in 2022.

Since becoming Managing Director, Gordon has demonstrated a commitment to developing people, and established an award-winning Academy, which has supported over 200 apprentices and trainees into the industry over the last 10 years.

Gordon also led the company to be listed on the Sunday Times best 100 companies to work for list in 2018, ranked number 21 on the list of the 50 Best Companies to Work for in Scotland, and being awarded the ‘Training Excellence’ award at the Construction News awards.

Ed Monaghan

Non-Executive Director

Non-Executive Director, Ed has worked in the house building industry for over 40 years. Having started his career as an apprentice with Mactaggart & Mickel at the age of 16, Ed went on to complete his apprenticeship and achieve an HNC in Building Management.

He then worked his way up through the buying department, then as a Surveyor, General Manager, Director and Managing Director before becoming CEO of Mactaggart & Mickel Group in 2007 growing the business from £40 million to £80 million in 2022.

In 2022, Ed led the successful sale of Mactaggart and Mickel’s homebuilding business to Springfield Properties, in a deal worth £46.3 million.

Ed is a board member of the Scottish Apprenticeship Advisory Board and the Glasgow-based charity, Rosemount Lifelong Learning. He is also a Director of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and a Non-Executive Director of Lar Projects.

Ed is a ‘Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS)’ and was awarded the Recognition Award at The Herald Family Business Awards in 2022. In 2020 he was named Director of the Year by the Institute of Directors and in 2017 he won The Queens Award for Enterprise, for his involvement in delivering the Athletes Village for the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
